Copywriting at Caraffi

Here’s a sample of my work with clients including Neko Health, West Midlands Police and Ocado Group. These brilliant companies come to us when they’re struggling to discern their consumer and employer brands. People might not really get what makes them tick - maybe they’re boxed in as a grocery retailer, but actually they’re pioneers in the tech space, or perhaps they’re undergoing a big structural change which requires a cultural shift. I put pen to paper and push out creative concepts that embody their truest forms.

Manifesto

We are West Midlands Police Tech, and we're building a legacy of firsts. We understand that innovation is the cornerstone of effective policing, and we're committed to empowering our tech teams to push boundaries and redefine what's possible. We pioneer; we don’t follow.

At WMP, we provide our colleagues with the community, training, and recognition to bring groundbreaking ideas to life. If you can do it better, we want to hear about it. From pioneering AI call handling systems now adopted by most UK forces, to launching the nation's first cloud-based digital forensics solution and building our own in-house App Factory, we've proven our dedication to trailblazing. Join WMP, and you'll be part of a team that doesn't just adapt to the future but actively shapes it.

We celebrate your impact, value your vision, and offer a platform where your skills will drive meaningful change for communities across the West Midlands and beyond. If you're a tech innovator ready to be celebrated as a force for firsts, your future starts with us.

Campaign success

  • 394,536 impressions

  • 17,177 clicks

  • 4.35% CTR (hitting 6.73% on Facebook)

  • £0.29 CPC, proving the resonance of the “Firsts” messaging

The most striking evidence was at the vacancy level. A specialist role that had previously sat open for 4 months with only 2 applications received 13 applications in a single week following the campaign launch. The campaign brought WMP’s Head of Architecture “to tears” due to its ability to tap into the pioneering power of their tech force. Beyond volume, the quality was exceptional. From the Force for Firsts campaign alone, we saw 305 job applications to date. Early data suggests a higher retention and probation-pass rate, as candidates now arrive fully bought into the WMP tech culture.

The success has served as a proof-of-concept for the National Technology Board. WMP are now the vocal employer of choice for policing technology in the UK: we didn’t just increase applications; we redefined policing as a destination for tech talent.

Rationale

My “Local Legend” concept aimed to attract Nottingham delivery drivers by framing the role as more than just a job. Each character emphasises Ocado Logistics’ USPs: community connection ("Hometown Hero"), a positive service contribution ("Defender of Deliveries") or a commitment to excellence (“Protector of Produce”). These “superheroes” leverage relatable narratives and directly reference Nottingham to resonate with local candidates, fostering a sense of pride and belonging while presenting Ocado Logistics as a caring employer that offers opportunities beyond the role itself: like professional development, wellbeing and inclusion, and flexible working.

Customer feedback

“The Nottingham campaign was a resounding success that created the definitive blueprint for our future regional sites.

By focusing on an innovative, engaging, and quirky brand, we didn’t just find candidates... we found the best quality talent we have ever seen! And the results speak for themselves: Ocado Logistics fulfillment reached 116%, and the high calibre of new starters meant that the site achieved a 15% higher retention rate than the network average. This campaign proved that a localised brand with great attention to detail is the key to recruitment excellence!”
